Do patents keep researchers from sharing?
There has been growing concern that patents on biomedical research tools may keep researchers from collaborative sharing of materials and knowledge, perhaps making scientific research more difficult. John Walsh, Charlene Cho and Wesley Cohen conduct a survey of academic and industry biomedical researchers to find out what effect recent changes in patent law have had on researchers’ behavior.
